# OpenStreetMap sample road databases

`kuala_lumpur.json` and `san_francisco.json` contain road geometry derived from OpenStreetMap.

The sample databases are made available under the [Open Database License 1.0](https://opendatacommons.org/licenses/odbl/1-0/).
These database files are separate from the original code and art in this project. Preserve attribution and this notice when redistributing the data. A downstream adapted database may trigger ODbL share-alike and access requirements. The distributed JSON is the available adapted road database.

Each JSON records its exact latitude/longitude bounding box, origin, date retrieved, source URL and local projection. Each fragment preserves the OSM way ID and road name where present. The projection is a small-area equirectangular approximation in metres. This is a flat prototype rendering: no terrain, traffic, elevation, lanes, access enforcement, accurate buildings or navigation guarantee. Decorative buildings are procedural fiction.

The ~440 m samples were fetched once at development time using `tools/map_pack.py`. Clients load the packaged JSON offline. Neither game nor website uses OSM public map tiles or calls Overpass/the editing API during play. Public editing and Overpass servers are not a production streaming backend.

The separate Harbor proving ground is fictional, original procedural geometry and is not OpenStreetMap data.
